On the way to Open air museum we pass by «American» district, hippodrome, and talk of reasons what kept Tallinn developing since 1850s.
In Open Air museum we will learn Estonian rural mode of life, see types of villages and farms.
Mission of the museum is show you peasantry mode of life, say of traditions through peasant architecture, farming culture, real life stories and superstitions with the local humour. We will feel the heart of national identity of small but proud Estonian people and understand what word «freedom» means for us.
During the walking tour, we find collection of 80 buildings: peasant farms, net sheds, school farm, chapel of 18-20th century.
We will look at low reed roof of barn-dwellings, come inside through low doorway to see how we leaved, how heated house, where to hold cattle and celebrate weddings.
The discipline was hard, but it always helped to survive in cold climate with restricted resources.
In summer time we have a lot of celebrations, dancings and exhibitions.
